About This Call
CUE Art Foundation seeks proposals that utilize its Chelsea Arts District gallery space in non-traditional ways. Proposals must rethink the gallery's function as a site for cultural exchange, address a wider audience than regular gallery-goers, and promote the activity of artists over the art object. Proposals may not be for solo exhibitions; submissions must involve more than one artist in some manner.
Submission requirements include: a descriptive text up to 1000 words incorporating a statement and project proposal, up to five images (at least one required, 72dpi jpeg format), a curriculum vitae, and a line-item budget. Applicants can submit images of past work, sketched ideas, mock-ups, or other relevant materials. Proposals will be judged on originality of concept, understanding of and response to the call's themes, artistic excellence, clarity of objectives, availability to meet the project timeline, and submission of a practical and realistic budget.
Eligible applicants are any artist, artists, or collective living or working within North America (U.S., Canada, and Mexico). Artists applying as a group or collective can only apply once. The maximum budget allotment from CUE is $2,000, with an additional $500 artist honorarium for the selected proposal. All applicants must provide a line-item budget including travel, shipping, installation, and documentation costs. Applicants may submit proposals exceeding the budget allotment but must be prepared to cover additional expenses. All submissions will be reviewed and artists will be notified within six months of the deadline.
