About This Call
The City of Coral Springs, in partnership with the City of Parkland and the Broward County Cultural Division, is seeking a nationally and/or internationally recognized lead artist for the Bloomberg Philanthropies Public Art Challenge Grant. The City is applying for a $1 Million grant with a match of $200,000 in funds and in-kind services. The selected artist will develop a civic and community engagement program to foster healing in the community following the tragic events at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, 2018.
The principal artist will work with the City and its partners to create innovative temporary public art project(s) and installations that will be displayed within Coral Springs, Parkland, and throughout Broward County. The program will take place over a two-year period, beginning with civic engagement activities on the first anniversary of the event (February 14, 2019) and culminating in the creation of final temporary artwork(s) and/or installations. The artist should have an extensive background in civic and community engagement.
Work sample requirements: Submit 3-6 images. The deadline for submission is April 13, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. The grant award will be announced in October 2018. For questions, contact Jim Hickey, Assistant Director, Development Services, City of Coral Springs at (954) 344-1114 or [email protected]. More information about the Public Art Program is available at www.coralsprings.org/publicart.
