¡Community! Artists Council Exhibition and Sale

¡Community! is a juried exhibition hosted by the Artists Council at the Artists Center in Palm Desert, California. The exhibition invites artists to submit work interpreting the theme of community—whether abstract or figurative, in sculpture, paint, or other mediums. Three monetary prizes of $300 will be awarded. Works will be selected by two jurors: Consuelo Montoya, Assistant Vice President of Adult Education and Public Programs at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and Nicolas Orozco-Valdivia, Curator at Large at The Mistake Room and Curatorial Assistant at the Benton Museum of Art at Pomona College.

Only current members of the Artists Council may apply. Entry fee is $35 for the first artwork image and $25 for the second. Artists may submit up to two works, with only one artwork per artist selected for the exhibition. All artwork must be available for sale at a price between $500 and $10,000, with proceeds split 50-50 between the artist and the Artists Council. Two-dimensional work must be framed between 16" x 12" (minimum) and 60" high by 48" wide (maximum). Three-dimensional work cannot exceed 50 pounds and must be between 6" x 6" x 6" (minimum) and 72" high by 48" wide by 48" deep (maximum). No video works, ceiling-hanging pieces, or moving parts are accepted. Artwork must be verifiably original, created independently, and not previously exhibited at any Artists Council exhibition.

Submission deadline is Sunday, September 18 at 10:59 p.m. PDT. Artists will be notified of acceptance by Sunday, October 9. The exhibition runs Thursday, October 20 through Sunday, November 20, 2022. Art drop-off is Tuesday, October 18, 9 a.m.–11 a.m. at the Artists Center, 72567 Highway 111, Palm Desert, CA 92260. Artwork must be delivered by the artist or their agent; shipped artwork will not be accepted. Accepted artists are responsible for one 3-hour shift at the gallery during the exhibition. Art pickup is Sunday, November 20, 2 p.m.–4 p.m.
