About This Call
This year-round public sculpture exhibit will feature works resembling plants, flowers, fungi, insects, animals, and other organic elements found in nature. The Community Art Garden will occupy approximately 300 square feet between the sidewalk and the front of the Firehouse. In addition to the original art, the garden will feature a Little Free Library designed and built by Michael DiCamillo, connect with the space intended for the South Framingham Fruit Initiative, and provide simple outdoor seating for public enjoyment.
Sculptures must be original creations by the artist. Up to two artworks may be submitted per artist. Pieces must be under 36" tall and have a footprint of less than four square feet with no minimum size requirement. The exhibit will be displayed outdoors year-round and must be both weather-worthy and able to be secured. Accepted works will be considered part of ātac's permanent collection. Should an artwork need repair or the garden be amended or removed for any reason, the artist will be contacted.
Entry fee is $40.00. Submit 1-3 images of your work. All are welcome to apply. Important dates: September 1, 2021 application deadline; September 2, 2021 artwork drop-off; September 2-5, 2021 jurying; September 6, 2021 artist notifications; September 11, 2021 groundbreaking party and public announcement. ātac recognizes the intersectionality of artists' identities and welcomes self-taught, community-taught, and institutionally trained artists.
