About This Call

The Colored Pencil Society of America invites artists to submit work for the 31st International Exhibition. The exhibition runs from June 22 to July 30, 2023.

Eligibility: Open to all artists 18 years or older, regardless of geographic location. Artworks must be 100% colored pencil on a 2-dimensional, manufactured surface (no artist-prepared surfaces). Work must be solely the original concept and design of the submitting artist, completed in or after 2020, and not previously hung in any CPSA International Exhibition. Outside frame dimensions may not exceed 40 inches (longer dimension) by 32 inches (shorter dimension). Each artist may submit one or two works for consideration; CPSA allows selection of no more than one work per artist.

Submission: Entry deadline is April 3, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Submit 1-2 images of your work. Entry fee is $25.00 ($20.00 for CPSA members). A list of selected artists will be posted at www.cpsa.org no later than May 1, 2023. Award winners will be notified by phone or email after judging is completed in early July. No notifications of acceptance are sent by CPSA for non-selected work.

Awards: Best of Show winner receives a $5,000 cash award and CIPPY trophy. Up to 20 other cash awards of $300 or more are available. Selected artists are responsible for a cartage fee of $88 plus shipping and framing costs. By submitting an entry, you commit to ship your artwork for the full duration of the exhibition. Artists who fail to ship a selected entry may be barred from entering CPSA exhibitions for the next two years. A final in-person review of the actual artwork is made to ensure compliance with all specifications and quality standards.
