About This Call
Colorado State University is seeking qualifications from artists interested in creating artworks for the Veterinary Health and Education Complex in Fort Collins, Colorado. Multiple artworks will be commissioned with total funding available up to $325,000. The deadline for submission is April 18, 2025.
The Veterinary Health and Education Complex will be a 420,000-square-foot facility consisting of a primary care clinic, animal specialty hospital, and veterinary education center. The project includes a new 208,000-square-foot addition housing a primary care clinic and cutting-edge veterinary education center with wet and dry skills labs, lecture halls, and active learning classrooms. The facility will provide student and faculty support spaces and community-driven areas supporting health and wellbeing initiatives across campus.
The committee is looking for artworks addressing at least two of the potential locations, which include interior wall-mounted opportunities, one ceiling-hung location capable of supporting 500lbs at two hanging points, and two possible exterior locations. The committee is interested in multiple artworks from multiple artists; the $325,000 budget will be split between multiple commissions. There is potential for a single artist to create artwork in multiple locations. The committee is interested in artworks addressing partnerships and relationships between people and animals. Media of all types will be considered, as well as artworks in a variety of styles. Artwork incorporating lighting, water, or interactive technology is not of interest. All wall-mounted artwork should meet ADA requirements. The facility already has bronze sculptures on its exterior, so additional bronze sculptures are not being commissioned.
Applications must be submitted through CaFÉ (www.callforentry.org) with digital images of art, a resume, and a brief statement of interest. There is no application fee. Applicants must submit a minimum of 6 and maximum of 8 images. All costs associated with commissioned artworks, including artist fee, insurance, materials, fabrication, transportation, installation, and project documentation, are covered by the budget.
