About This Call
The Colorado State University System is seeking artists and artist teams to create site-specific public artworks for the CSU Spur campus at the National Western Center in Denver. Colorado artists are encouraged to apply. The total budget for the project is $1,055,000 for eight locations, with budget ranges from $30,000 to $400,000 per location.
Eight artwork locations are available: Bridge (up to $400,000), Northeast Plaza and Façade of Animal Health Center (up to $110,000), Plaza of CSU Center (up to $100,000), Water Building Backyard (up to $125,000), Water Building Alley (up to $140,000), Water Building Interior Main Lobby (up to $75,000), CSU Center Ag Discovery (up to $75,000), and Animal Health Center Main Lobby (up to $30,000). All facilities will be LEED Gold or higher, so art must be LEED-compliant. The Selection Committee will evaluate submissions based on Innovation, Engagement, Imagination, and Relevance.
Applications must be submitted through CaFÉ (www.callforentry.org) by January 24, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Applicants must submit 6-8 digital images of previously completed artworks, a current résumé, and a statement of interest (250 words or less). There is no application fee. Selected semi-finalists will be invited to propose artwork for their chosen location; in-state semi-finalists will receive $1,000 as an honorarium, and out-of-state semi-finalists will receive $1,500 for the design proposal. All project costs including design fees, engineering, materials, fabrication, transportation, installation, and documentation are covered by the budget.
