About This Call
Colorado State University in Fort Collins is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its President's Commission on Women and Gender Equity. The Commission has worked for two decades to advance the climate for women and all genders at Colorado State and to advise the University on issues related to the status and success of women.
The University is seeking a completed work of art to commemorate this anniversary and the contributions of women to Colorado State University since its founding. Submissions must speak in creative ways to the theme of advancing women in higher education and celebrating their contributions at Colorado State University. Works in all media, techniques, and styles are encouraged, including painting, ceramics, drawing, dance, textiles, metalwork, musical composition, poetry, prose, playwriting, and sculpture. The winning entry will become a permanent part of the Colorado State University collection.
Eligibility: All artists 18 years or older residing in Colorado (or if not residing in Colorado must be professionally or academically affiliated with Colorado State University) may enter. Entry fee is $25 per entry; this fee is waived for current CSU students with a coupon code from the CSU Office of the President. No more than two entries per person will be considered. Media fee for additional images above the maximum is $5 per sample. All 2D work must be framed or properly wired for hanging and must not exceed 48" in width or length. Sculpture must be solid standing or securely mounted, and only work easily handled by no more than two people at a time will be accepted. Artwork that differs from submitted images will be disqualified. The winning piece must be physically delivered to Colorado State University within two weeks of notification and will become the property of the University. A total of $5,000 in prize money will be awarded; judges may select both a first and second prize winner and split the total award or award a single prize at their discretion. No more than two winning pieces will be selected. Winners will be notified prior to the public announcement in March 2018 during Women's History Month.
