About This Call
Colorado Creative Industries seeks qualifications from artists and artist teams interested in creating a site-specific public artwork for the CoorsTek Center on the campus of the Colorado School of Mines. The artwork will utilize unique materials produced by the CoorsTek factory in Golden, Colorado.
The public art budget is $50,000, covering all costs including artist design fee, structural engineering, insurance, transportation, installation, and project documentation. CoorsTek will donate all materials for the artwork; artists may also use scrap materials from the factory or request new materials fabricated to their specifications. The Committee is seeking an interior artwork for a location to be determined within the building, with possible sites including a large stairwell wall, wall space, or ceiling space in public areas. The artwork should engage with the CoorsTek material and consider both the applied sciences departments and the history between the school and CoorsTek.
Applicants must be legal residents of the United States and demonstrate skills and experience commensurate with completing a major public art installation and working with unique materials. The selection process includes a semi-finalist stage; semi-finalists will receive a $1,500 honorarium for design proposals and must complete a site visit to the CoorsTek factory and present their proposals in person. Applications must include six digital images of previously completed artworks, a resume, and a statement of interest (250 words or less). Submit applications through the CaFÉ system at www.callforentry.org. For questions, contact Ruth Bruno at 303-844-3813 or [email protected].
