About This Call
Colorado Creative Industries seeks to acquire public art through direct purchase of existing artwork for Colorado Mesa University's Tomlinson Library. The total funding available is $108,738, with individual artworks considered up to $15,000. CMU is looking to acquire multiple artworks from multiple artists. This opportunity is open to artists who live in Colorado or Utah.
The Selection Committee will consider both 2D and 3D artworks for various locations throughout the library's interior, including paintings, photography, mixed media, and fabric/textile artworks. 2D artworks may be sculptural in nature if wall-mounted and do not protrude more than 4 inches. Various wall sizes are available, ranging from 7' x 2 story height to 24' x 8'5". For 3D artworks, there are four triangular pedestal areas in the main three-story atrium (7'x7'x 9'9" triangular shaped with 9' height), with two platforms on the 2nd floor and two on the 3rd floor. Additional sculpture opportunities exist at the first floor entry and various interior areas. For 3D submissions, the listed price should include all installation costs and necessary display elements.
The Art Selection Committee will evaluate submissions based on artistic excellence, technical competence, scale, material, form and content, resistance to wear and vandalism, and ease of maintenance. Current faculty, staff, students, and alumni of CMU are highly encouraged to apply. Applicants must submit 1-3 digital images per artwork (up to 4 artworks total, maximum 12 images), a current résumé, and a statement of interest of 250 words or less through the CaFÉ system. There is no application fee. The selection panel will meet in April 2016, with notifications of purchase selections in April/May 2016 and delivery of artworks in May 2016.
