About This Call
CREATIVE CAPITOL celebrates Colorado artists and images of the state of Colorado. The Colorado Council on the Arts (CCA) and Denver International Airport (DIA) invite artists to participate in a four-part rotating series of exhibitions featuring the diverse talents of artists from the Northwest, Southwest, Eastern, and Metro Denver areas of Colorado. The first exhibit will highlight artists from northwestern Colorado. CCA and DIA are seeking two-dimensional creative interpretations of Colorado environments and culture.
Selected artworks will be displayed at Denver International Airport from February through May 2009, then travel to the State Capitol for an exhibition in the Lieutenant Governor's Office from June through August 2009. Open to Colorado artists who are residents of the following counties: Clear Creek, Eagle, Garfield, Gilpin, Grand, Jackson, Larimer, Moffatt, Rio Blanco, Routt, and Summit. Only two-dimensional artworks will be considered. Artwork dimensions must measure larger than 18" x 18" and not exceed 48" x 68" x 2½" (outside frame dimension). Framed artwork must not weigh more than 50 pounds. Each artist may submit up to two artworks as high-quality digital images. There is no application fee.
Artwork will be juried via the CaFÉ Online Jury System based on digital images submitted. Selected applicants will be notified the week of December 15, 2008. All artwork accepted into the exhibition will be insured while in DIA's possession. Artists are responsible for shipping costs to DIA and return shipping after the exhibition. Artists may sell their own work during the exhibit but must collect sales tax and cover shipping costs for sold items. All entries must be suitably presented and wired for hanging; works on paper and photography must be framed or mounted. For questions, contact (303) 342-2526 or [email protected].
