About This Call
Foothills Art Center invites Colorado artists to submit work for the 2014 Colorado Clay Biennial, a juried ceramics exhibition. This exhibition continues FAC's commitment to showcasing clay as fine art, going beyond functional objects to explore innovative contemporary expressions in the medium.
Artists may enter up to 5 clay objects for consideration. Eligibility is limited to artists currently residing, working, or studying in Colorado. Work must be completed within the past two years, with clay as the primary or predominant medium. Wall pieces may not exceed 50 lbs and must be equipped with adequate hanging devices. Work previously displayed at FAC is not eligible. Entry fee is $30. Juror Doug Casebeer, Chair of the Artists Residency Program and Artistic Director of Ceramics at Anderson Ranch Art Center, will select works for inclusion and consider them for cash and merchandise awards totaling over $1,000. Accepted artists will also be invited to bring smaller clay items priced $250 or less for a special gift gallery exhibition space.
Exhibition dates are January 25–March 16, 2014. Artwork delivery by appointment is January 14–18, 2014. The opening reception and awards ceremony is January 24, 2014. Juror Doug Casebeer will give a lecture on January 25, 2014 at 2pm. FAC retains a 40% commission on art sales. Prices may not be changed after submission. Submit 1–5 digital images in JPEG format (1920 pixels in longest dimension, 72 ppi/dpi or higher, no larger than 3.0 MB) via the CaFE online submission system.
