About This Call
Colorado Creative Industries seeks to acquire an existing ceiling-hung artwork for Lamar Community College's renovated Bowman Library. Funding is provided by the state of Colorado's Art in Public Places Program. This opportunity is open to Colorado artists only.
The artwork will be displayed in a centrally located niche in the library ceiling, visible throughout the library and from hallways leading to the entrance. The planned ceiling niche is approximately 7'-0" x 7'-0" with a height of 10'-10" above finished floor. Artists should submit artwork with nature as subject matter—flora, fauna, or natural elements such as water—with either realistic or abstract thematic connections. The committee will consider thematic relevance, artistic excellence, size and weight, material, form, content, appropriateness of scale, and ease of maintenance when reviewing submissions.
The budget for this purchase is $11,250. Artworks priced at or below this amount will be considered; any artwork priced above $11,250 will be ineligible. Artists must deliver the artwork to the Lamar campus and should account for delivery costs and required hardware in their pricing. Applicants may submit up to 3 available artworks, with each submitted as a separate application. Each application requires 1-3 digital images, a current résumé, and a statement of interest (250 words or less). The Art Selection Committee will review submissions in February, with notifications of purchase selections in February or March. All works purchased become property of the State of Colorado via Lamar Community College. For questions, contact Ruth Wilson, Public Art Program Manager, at 303.880.6671 or [email protected].
