About This Call
Color Theory is an online juried exhibition presented by Site:Brooklyn, running October 11 - November 11, 2023. The exhibition explores the dual nature of color as both an emotional and scientific phenomenon, and its evolving role in contemporary art. Site:Brooklyn seeks artists whose work engages with questions about color's function in today's visual landscape, moving beyond traditional spiritual and naturalistic interpretations into contemporary contexts including advertisement, repetition, and digital life.
The exhibition is juried by Kaegan Sparks, a curator, writer, and art historian based in New York City with positions at institutions including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Museum of Modern Art, Dia Art Foundation, and the New Museum of Contemporary Art. She is a Whitney Independent Study Program graduate and has published criticism in Artforum, Art in America, The Brooklyn Rail, and other publications.
Eligibility is open to all artists 18 years of age or older working in all media. Entry fee is $26.00 for three images, with an additional $10 media fee for each additional image (3-8 images total, 0-3 videos accepted). All artwork must be original works and priced for sale. Artists retain 60% commission on all sales. Accepted artists must provide high-resolution photo files. Notification of acceptance is September 27, 2023. All entry fees are non-refundable.
