About This Call
Black Box Gallery is hosting a juried group photography exhibition focused on color photography. The show seeks contemporary color photography across all genres including landscape, portraiture, architecture, fashion, street, abstract, documentary, still life, narrative, conceptual projects, nature, and night photography.
Juror Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery, holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has 15 years of experience as a college photography instructor in Portland. He has curated exhibitions of international photographers and served as a portfolio reviewer for Photolucida.
Entry fee is $35. Submissions must include 1-5 images. Up to 5 applications are allowed per artist. The deadline is May 8, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Exhibition dates are June 1-20, 2020. Black Box Gallery will be open by appointment only during June due to COVID-19. The juror will select 24 photographs for exhibition at the gallery and an additional 30 photographs for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books.
Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all exhibitions. Selected photographers must provide high-resolution TIFF or JPEG files. Prints are produced on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer on Epson Premium Luster Photo paper in a color-calibrated environment. Exhibition prints are kept in flat files after the show for future promotion and sale. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales, with 50% going to the photographer. All rights remain with the photographer, and no sale or printing of files will occur without prior consent. Artists may request that prints be for exhibition and promotion only, not for sale. This opportunity is open to international applicants.
