About This Call
Black Box Gallery is hosting a color photography juried group photo show. The exhibition explores how contemporary photographers use color in landscape, portraiture, architecture, fashion, street, abstract, documentary, still life, narrative, conceptual projects, nature and night photography.
Juror Todd Johnson is the founder and director of Black Box Gallery. He holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has served as a photography portfolio reviewer for Photolucida and juror for The Drawers Program at Blue Sky Gallery. Johnson has worked as an independent photography curator and college photography instructor for 15 years in Portland.
The exhibition will feature 24 photographs selected by the juror for display at the gallery, with an additional 30 photographs selected for exhibition in the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books. The exhibition runs June 1-20, 2018, with an opening reception on Friday, June 1, 6-8:00 pm.
Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all exhibitions. Selected photographers submit high-resolution TIFF or JPEG files for printing on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer using Epson Premium Luster Photo paper. Prints are available in 18" x 24" black frames with white mats pre-cut for 12" x 18", 12" x 12", and 12" x 16" prints. Exhibition prints are retained in flat files after the show for future promotion and sale. Black Box Gallery retains a 50% commission on all sales, with 50% going to the photographer. Artists may request that prints not be for sale and be used for exhibition and promotion only. All rights remain with the photographer, and no sale or printing occurs without prior consent.
Entry fee: $35. Submit 1-5 images. Deadline: May 10, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. International eligibility.
