About This Call
The Color Scheme Residency is a 7-month-long residency (January - July 2027) that seeks to uplift and engage with historically underrepresented artists and communities. Selected artists will be reflective of the arts community at large and open to participating in activities including workshops, exhibits, and community conversations that address specific themes and issues affecting historically underrepresented artists and communities.
ASLD's Residency Programs provide financial support, studio space, and exhibition opportunities for selected artists to immerse themselves in their practice and connect with ASLD's community. The Color Scheme Residency offers selected artists access to a 900 sq ft dedicated studio space at ASLD, a monthly stipend of $4,000, the opportunity to lead workshops, lectures, and community engagement programs, and culminates with an exhibition of work created throughout the residency (solo or group exhibition, as determined by the artist). Each residency is tailored to the selected artist's expertise and discipline.
Applications must include: artist bio, resume/CV, artist statement, 5-10 JPEG images (300 DPI, 1920 x 1920), demographic information (race, ethnicity, age), and answers to five questions about your artistic practice, career goals, commitment to justice/equity/diversity/inclusion/accessibility, and connection to underrepresented communities in the Denver metro area. The residency is open to any artist committed to working with diverse community members. Entry fee: $25.
