About This Call
Black Box Gallery announces a color photography juried group photo show. The exhibition explores how contemporary photographers use color in landscape, portraiture, architecture, fashion, street, abstract, documentary, still life, narrative, conceptual, nature and night photography.
Juror Todd Johnson is the founder and director of Black Box Gallery. He holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has served as a photography portfolio reviewer for Photolucida (Portland, OR) and juried The Drawers Program for Blue Sky Gallery (Portland, OR). Johnson has worked as an independent photography curator and college photography instructor for 15 years in Portland.
Entry fee is $35.00. Applicants may submit 1-5 images. The deadline is November 9, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Exhibition dates are December 1-20, 2017, with an opening reception on Friday, December 1, 6-8:00 pm. Twenty-four photographs will be selected for exhibition at the gallery, and an additional 30 photographs will be selected for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books.
Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all exhibitions. Selected photographers provide a high resolution TIFF or JPEG file for printing on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer on Epson Premium Luster Photo paper. Exhibition prints are kept in a flat file after the show for future sale and promotion. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales, with 50% going to the photographer. All rights remain with the photographer, and no sale or printing will occur without prior consent. Artists may request that prints be for exhibition and promotion only, not for sale.
