Color: Photography Now

Black Box Gallery is hosting a juried color photography group exhibition. The show seeks contemporary color photography across all genres including landscape, portraiture, architecture, fashion, street, abstract, documentary, still life, narrative, conceptual projects, nature, and night photography. The exhibition explores how photographers use color to think about, compose, stylize, and present contemporary work.

Juror Todd Johnson is the founder and director of Black Box Gallery, with an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute. He has served as a portfolio reviewer for Photolucida, Critical Mass, Dodho Magazine, and Blue Sky Gallery, and has curated exhibitions at institutions including Linfield College, Gallery Homeland, and The Waiting Room Gallery. Johnson has exhibited nationally and internationally.

Entry deadline is November 10, 2021. The entry fee is $40. Submissions should include 1-5 images. The exhibition runs December 1-20, 2021, with 24 photographs selected for the physical gallery and 30 additional photographs selected for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books.

Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all selected work. Prints are produced on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer on Epson Premium Luster Photo paper in a color-calibrated environment. Exhibition prints are retained in the gallery's flat files after the show for future promotion and sale. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales, with 50% going to the photographer. Artists may request that their print not be for sale and be used for exhibition and promotion only. All rights remain with the photographer, and no sale or printing will occur without prior consent.
