Color: Photography Now

Black Box Gallery is hosting a color photography juried group photo show. The exhibition explores how contemporary photographers use color in landscape, portraiture, architecture, fashion, street, abstract, documentary, still life, narrative, conceptual, nature, and night photography.

The juror is Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery, who holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has 25 years of experience in arts education and curation. Twenty-six photographs will be selected for exhibition at the gallery from November 1-25, 2025. An additional 50 photographs will be selected for exhibition in the online gallery annex. All 76 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books.

Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all exhibitions. Selected photographers submit high-resolution TIFF or JPEG files for printing on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer using Epson Premium Luster Photo paper in a color-calibrated environment. Exhibition prints are 18" x 24" in black frames with white mats pre-cut for 12" x 18", 12" x 12", and 12" x 16" prints. After the exhibition, prints are kept in flat files for future promotion and sales. Black Box Gallery retains a 50% commission on sales, with 50% going to the photographer. All rights remain with the photographer, and no sales or printing occur without prior consent. The entry fee is $40, with a deadline of October 10, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Applicants may submit 1-5 images and are allowed up to 5 applications.
