About This Call
Black Box Gallery is hosting a color photography juried group photo show. The exhibition explores how contemporary photographers use color in landscape, portraiture, architecture, fashion, street, abstract, documentary, still life, narrative, conceptual, nature and night photography.
Juror Todd Johnson is the founder and director of Black Box Gallery. He holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has served as a portfolio reviewer for Photolucida and juror for The Drawers Program at Blue Sky Gallery. Johnson has worked as an independent photography curator and college photography instructor for 15 years in Portland.
Entry fee is $35.00. Applicants may submit 1-5 images. The entry deadline is November 9, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MST. The exhibition runs December 1-20, 2018, with an opening reception on Friday, December 7, 6-8:00 pm. The juror will select 24 photographs for exhibition at the gallery and an additional 30 photographs for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books.
Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all exhibitions. Selected photographers must provide high resolution TIFF or JPEG files. Prints are made on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer on Epson Premium Luster Photo paper in a color-calibrated environment. Exhibition prints will be kept in a flat file after the show for future sale and promotion. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales, with 50% going to the photographer. Artists may request that prints not be for sale and be used for exhibition and promotion only. All rights remain with the photographer and require their prior consent for any sale or printing. The gallery will shred all prints after 5 years in the flat files.
