Color Burst: Contemporary Photography

Black Box Gallery announces a color photography juried group photo show. The exhibition explores how contemporary photographers use color in landscape, portraiture, architecture, fashion, street, abstract, documentary, still life, narrative, conceptual, nature and night photography.

Juror Todd Johnson is the founder and director of Black Box Gallery, with an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute. He has served as a portfolio reviewer for Photolucida, Critical Mass, Dodho Magazine, and Blue Sky Gallery, and has curated exhibitions at institutions including Linfield College, Gallery Homeland, and The Waiting Room Gallery. Johnson has exhibited his work nationally and internationally.

Entry deadline is May 12, 2023. Exhibition dates are June 1-20, 2023. The juror will select 24 photographs for exhibition at the gallery and an additional 30 photographs for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books. Entry fee is $40. Photographers may submit 1-5 images. Open to international photographers.

Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all exhibitions. Selected photographers provide high-resolution TIFF or JPEG files for printing on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer on Epson Premium Luster Photo paper. Prints are available in 12" x 18", 12" x 12", and 12" x 16" sizes with 18" x 24" black frames. Exhibition prints are retained in flat files after the show for future promotion and sales. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on sales, with 50% going to the photographer. All rights remain with the photographer, and no sale or printing occurs without prior consent. Artists may elect for prints to be exhibition and promotion only, not for sale.
