College Station Artist in Residence, Summer 2022

The Arts Council of the Brazos Valley seeks visual artists for a summer residency in College Station, Texas from mid-May through mid-August 2022.

Eligibility: Current students enrolled in a visual arts program at a community college or university, or graduates of a visual arts program at a community college, four-year university, or master's program within the past year. Applicants must concentrate in one of the following areas: 2-D Mixed media, 3-D Mixed media, Drawing, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, or Watercolor. Applicants must be available to live in College Station for the full residency period, have a reliable vehicle and insurance, and be able to pass a background check.

Residency Benefits: An unfurnished apartment rent-free from mid-May through mid-August 2022 (artist responsible for utilities, cable, and internet); access to studio space; a $500 stipend for supplies, utilities, and groceries; mentorship sessions with area artists on exhibition installation, sales, and financial management; and a solo show and opening at a local gallery organized and funded by The Arts Council.

Requirements: The artist must be the sole occupant of the apartment and is responsible for its upkeep. No more than 25 percent of the exhibition may consist of work created prior to the residency. The artist must install and deinstall the exhibition and attend the opening. For pieces sold in the show, the split is 70% artist/30% The Arts Council, with an additional 2.5% deducted for credit card transactions. The artist is responsible for hanging the show and teardown. No travel costs are provided.

Application: Submit 3-6 images of work through the Call for Entry application by March 27, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Entry fee: $25.
