About This Call

Studio Channel Islands, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is seeking submissions of artwork to be donated for the Collectors Choice 2020 exhibition. A juror will select accepted works to participate in a month-long exhibit at The Blackboard Gallery in Camarillo, CA, closing with the annual Collectors Choice Fundraising Event. Juror Katherine Chang Liu is an internationally exhibited artist with 43 solo exhibitions, 45 competitive awards, and experience as juror for over 88 national, regional, and state-wide art competitions.

Juror's awards include: First Place $1,000 plus a 2021 exhibit opportunity; Second Place $500; Third Place $250. All accepted artists will be invited to the exhibition launch to meet the Board of Directors, partners, and collectors. Selected artwork will be showcased on the organization's website and event page, with each work linked to the artist's website and published in the event program.

Eligibility: Open to artists ages 18 and up. All media except video, performance, and installation. Work should be no larger than 30" in width and 48" in height with a retail value of at least $300. All submitted works must be original and created by the artist. Artwork previously exhibited at The Blackboard Gallery is permissible. Submit 1-6 total work samples (images, audio, or video). Exhibition dates: March 7-28, 2020. Reception: March 7, 2020. Collectors Choice event: March 28, 2020, 6-9pm. Artwork delivery: March 3, 2020, 10am-6pm. All 2D artwork must be delivered ready to hang with appropriate hardware. Pedestals will be provided for 3D artwork; mannequins and busts for wearable art and jewelry. Accepted artists may purchase an artist ticket for $70 for the March 28 event.
