About This Call
Studio Channel Islands, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is seeking submissions of artwork to be donated for the Collectors Choice 2018 exhibition. A juror will select accepted works to participate in a month-long exhibit at The Blackboard Gallery in Camarillo, CA, closing with the annual Collectors Choice Fundraising Event. The 2018 juror is Carol Henry, an artist, consultant, and curator based in Carmel, California, who currently serves as gallery director at Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur.
Juror's awards include: First Place - $1,000 plus a major exhibition opportunity at The Blackboard Gallery in 2018 or 2019; Second Place - $500; Third Place - $250; People's Choice Award - $500. All accepted artists will be invited to a special exhibition launch to meet the Board of Directors, partners, and collectors. Selected artwork will be showcased on the organization's website and event page, with each work linked to the artist's website and published in the event program.
Eligibility: Open to artists ages 18 and up. All media except video, performance, and installation. Work must be no larger than 30" in width and 48" in height with a retail value of at least $250. All submitted works must be original and created by the artist. Artwork previously exhibited at The Blackboard Gallery is permissible. Submit 1-6 images. All 2D artwork must be delivered ready to hang with appropriate hardware (no sawtooth hangers). Pedestals will be provided for 3D artwork; mannequins and busts will be provided for wearable art and jewelry. Artists must indicate vertical or horizontal orientation and include any special installation instructions. Accepted artists may purchase an artist ticket for $70 for the Collectors Choice event on March 24th, 2017, from 6:00-9:00pm.
