About This Call
The Coeur d'Alene ArtCurrents program invites artists from the Northwest US and British Columbia to submit sculptures for outdoor placement in downtown Coeur d'Alene, Riverstone, and Atlas Waterfront Park. Selected pieces will be on loan with the intention to sell and will be displayed for a one-year period from October 2025 through September 2026, with an option to renew for an additional year (October 2026 through September 2027).
Artworks must be three-dimensional, stand-alone pieces with a minimum height of 48 inches, designed and fabricated for long-term outdoor durability and ease of maintenance. Pieces should center on themes or interpretations of the Northwest and appeal to the community. Artists should submit two or more digital images taken from front and back viewpoints, installation requirements, and a written statement explaining the piece's inspiration and how it fits into the Coeur d'Alene community. Artwork must be valued between $7,000 and $30,000.
Selected artists will receive a $1,000 stipend for the first year and an additional $1,000 stipend if the piece is retained for the second year. The City of Coeur d'Alene will receive a 25% commission from any sales. Artists are responsible for transporting artwork to and from the installation location. The program is open to artists residing in Idaho, Montana, Utah, Wyoming, British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon. Entry deadline is June 30, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Submissions are limited to 8 applications per artist, with 2-8 work samples required.
