Coastal at Art Works Downtown

Art Works Downtown invites submissions for Coastal, a juried exhibition to be presented in the 1337 Gallery. The subject is open to all artistic interpretations and mediums exploring the Bay Area's broad and diverse coastal region, including inland and sea, from Santa Cruz to Bodega Bay. The juror is Elia Haworth, Curator of Coastal Marin Art & History of the Bolinas Museum.

Eligibility is limited to SF Bay Area artists only (artist must live within 100 miles from San Rafael, CA). The exhibition is open to all visual arts media, with the following requirements: video must include player, monitor, and earphones (projections are prohibited); artwork must not exceed 72" by any dimension, including frame and all materials; original artwork only (no giclees or reproductions, though editions are acceptable); and submissions must not have previously exhibited in the AWD 1337 Gallery. Entry fee is $40 for a maximum of 3 entries, with discounts provided to AWD Artist Members. Submissions require 1-3 work samples (images and/or video). Apply through callforentry.org only; AWD will not accept hardcopy, email, or disk submissions.

Notification by email will be sent April 5 or 6. Accepted entries must be hand-delivered to Art Works Downtown, 1337 Fourth St., San Rafael between 1pm-4pm on Saturday, April 20. The reception and 2nd Friday Art Walk is Friday, May 10, 5-8pm. Unsold artwork pickup is Saturday, June 8, 10am-2pm. Art Works Downtown accepts a 40% donation upon sale. Artists who do not retrieve their work will be charged a storage fee of $3.00 per day; works remaining after 30 days become property of Art Works Downtown.
