CNYWS Annual Juried Exhibition

This is a juried exhibition for original water-soluble media paintings on paper or Yupo. All work must be original and executed within the past two years. Paintings shown at previous CNYWS exhibits are not eligible.

Eligibility requirements: Works done at a workshop or under supervision of an instructor are not eligible. Paintings from published photos or non-artist reference materials are not eligible. Photo reference material must be by the artist or from permission-granted, non-published photos by others. Water-soluble media includes transparent or opaque watercolor, casein, gouache, egg tempera, and acrylic painted in an aqueous manner (no thick or raised impasto-like application). A limited use of pastel, collage, or ink, not constituting more than 10% of the painting, is allowed. All paintings must be framed under Plexiglas with no glass allowed. If matting, only white or off-white is allowed with a 2-inch minimum mat border (3-4 inches preferred). A thin, 1/4-inch colored liner is permitted. Frames must be sturdy and wired to hang with no sawtooth hangers.

Awards include CNYWS Best In Show (Medal on display, plus $300), three Artistic Merit Awards ($100 each), and three Judge's Choice Awards ($100 each). Entries must be submitted as high-quality JPEG files at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB.
