About This Call
Clover Meadows Neighborhood Park is a 6.84-acre park located in southwest Longmont at 4850 Heatherhill Street, serving the Somerset Meadows, Meadowview West, Tramonto, and North Star neighborhoods. The park will include a nature-themed playground, bike track/pump track, picnic shelter, xeric garden, and orchard with fruit-bearing trees. The Art in Public Places Commission in partnership with the Parks Department is requesting qualifications and professional samples of past public artworks for consideration. Three finalists may be selected to present design concepts and will be paid an honorarium to develop and present their artwork design concepts. Construction is underway with installation expected in 2024/early 2025.
Applications must include: a letter of interest and preliminary statement of approach communicating experience with similar projects; 5-10 images of fabricated and installed public artwork completed within the past ten years (no more than 2 images per project); and a professional résumé or CV highlighting public artwork commissions and sculpture installations. Do not submit images of past proposals that have not been fabricated and executed.
Design concepts should be suitable for general public viewing and may consider placement along the native trail, near the orchard with reference to agriculture history, or adjacent to the bicycle track. Interactive artwork concepts will be considered with attention to safety. Artwork must be constructed of durable materials with a lifespan of at least twenty years and low maintenance requirements. The budget for the artwork is up to $60,000, including all design, fabrication, transportation, installation, and a minimum 10% contingency. This project does not include lighting. Selected finalists may present artwork from their inventory provided no other work in that edition is installed within a 100-mile radius of the installation site.
