About This Call

The Jundt Art Museum at Gonzaga University presents the 1st Inland Northwest Juried Landscape Art Exhibition, organized by Paul Manoguerra, director/curator, and Karen Kaiser, curator of education. As part of the recurring CLOSE IN series, the exhibition focuses on landscape-based works created by artists from the Inland Northwest region. The exhibition runs May 26 to August 11, 2018, with an opening reception on Friday, June 1, 2018. The objective is to present the diversity and dynamism of contemporary artistic activity in the Inland Northwest while celebrating the relationship between art and the local landscape.

Artists must be residents of specific counties in Washington (Adams, Asotin, Benton, Chelan, Columbia, Douglas, Ferry, Franklin, Garfield, Grant, Kittitas, Klickitat, Lincoln, Okanogan, Pend Oreille, Spokane, Stevens, Walla Walla, Whitman, or Yakima) or Idaho (Benewah, Bonner, Boundary, Clearwater, Idaho, Kootenai, Latah, Lewis, Nez Perce, or Shoshone), and must provide proof of residency. Artists may submit up to three different works of art. Each submission requires one image showing the entire work. The entry fee is $25. All works must be completed, suitable for museum exhibition, and may be in any media with no specific size limitations, though gallery space is limited. Works will not be for sale and must remain on site for the duration of the exhibition.

Selection will be made by the Jundt Art Museum staff based on artistic quality and merit, adherence to the landscape theme, and the artist's educational and professional achievements. Finalists will be notified by February 9, 2018. Award winners will be announced at the opening reception on June 1. First prize is $1,000, second place is $500, and honorable mentions receive $250. All works will be insured by Gonzaga University while in the museum's custody. Artists must deliver works between May 16-19, 2018, and pick them up between August 13-15, 2018.
