About This Call

CLK Properties launched the CLK Artist Showcase to display leased works of artists on a long-term basis at select buildings on Long Island, New York. The aim is to provide a platform for local and regional artists to display their works in highly trafficked areas, allowing for maximum visibility and to improve the cultural and artistic landscape of surrounding areas. This first opportunity is for at least two large sculptures to anchor the lawns at 300 Broadhollow Road, Melville, New York. The property is situated on the Northwest corner of Route 110 and the Long Island Expressway, where an estimated 220,000 cars pass by daily.

Selected artists will enter into a lease agreement with CLK for a minimum term of 7 years. Installation must take place during Fall 2019. CLK will provide annual rental payments and a one-time fee for moving and miscellaneous expenses, determined based on lease length and sculpture size/value. CLK will provide insurance up to the appraised value of the work. Prior to lease end, CLK retains the right to purchase the piece for a previously agreed sum or negotiate a lease extension for a minimum of 5 years.

Submissions must be original sculptures constructed from materials that can withstand outdoor exposure to Long Island's weather elements and public interaction. Minimum height requirement is 8 feet. Sculptures will be chosen based on artistic merit, mindfulness of Long Island's diverse population and commitment to equality and community, conformance to local aesthetic, overall appeal, artist experience and Long Island/Greater New York area connection, and durability and public safety. Artists may submit up to three sculptures. Entry fee is $25.00. Deadline: August 25, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
