CLICKBAIT: Political Art Publication and Exhibition

Dab Art announces the first installment of its Dab Art Quarterly arts publication and online exhibition, seeking artists' views on current political, geopolitical, and social issues. The first edition, entitled CLICKBAIT, asks artists to submit politically-charged work motivated by the current state of news media and the prevalence of clickbait, fake news, and yellow journalism in contemporary journalism.

The published journal will be a high-quality, 90-page, 6x9-inch, soft-covered book. All exhibiting artists will receive a gratis paperback edition of CLICKBAIT from Dab Art; a hardback book will also be available for purchase. The journal will be added to the permanent catalog in the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) Balch Art Research Library. Two cash honorariums will be awarded: $300 to the artist selected for the cover and $100 for the juror's pick. The artist selected for the cover will also receive a gratis hardback edition.

All featured artists will be exhibited as part of the online show, running from September 1 - December 1, 2018, hosted by DabArt.me. The online exhibition reaches over 50,000 annual page views and an additional 10,000-contact mailing list. Accepted artwork includes painting, printmaking, sculpture, glass, fiber, functional, digital, photography, installation, mixed media, and new genres. Entries will be juried and selected based on technical application, originality, and concept. Entry fee is $40, with an additional $5 media fee for additional images. Submit 5-20 images. Eligibility is international. Final jurying concludes August 6, with artist notification via email on August 8. Digital files, statements, and biography are due August 22. A release party will be held in October (details TBA), and all featured artists will be invited to attend.
