About This Call
Atelier InSite, the team responsible for the administration of site-specific public art on the Clemson University campus, is seeking qualified artist(s)/artist teams from all disciplines and approaches to submit a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for site-specific public art at the Lee Hall III Facility in Clemson, South Carolina.
The project involves the design, fabrication, engineering, and installation of an exterior public artwork with a budget of $60,000. Artwork should be reflective of the academic programs housed in Lee Hall III, which include art, architecture, landscape architecture, planning development preservation, city and regional planning, real estate development, and construction science and management. Artwork may be interpreted literally, abstractly, or otherwise, and must not interfere with daily operations or pose potential harm. Work sample requirements: 5-6 images, up to 1 audio file, and up to 1 video file.
Atelier InSite and its constituency will review all submissions. A selected group of qualified artists will be notified and invited to submit a project proposal. Finalists will receive a $2,000 stipend and are strongly encouraged to visit the project site. Selection criteria include originality (creativity and uniqueness demonstrated in previous projects) and workmanship (quality and craftsmanship exhibited by past work). Eligibility is international. RFQ deadline: March 3, 2014. For more information about Public Art at Clemson University, visit www.atelierinsite.com.
