Clearwater Beach Marina Waterfront Sculpture

The City of Clearwater is seeking a professional artist or artist team to create a sculpture for the west section of the new Marina Walk, located at 25 Causeway Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33767. The sculpture will be placed on the west corner of the Marina Walk facing Coronado Dr. Designs can range in size, but the base should not exceed 7 feet in diameter, with a maximum height of 15 feet including the base. Construction of the west section is set to be complete by summer 2025.

The selected artist will be awarded a $75,000 comprehensive contract and will be responsible for artwork design, fabrication, materials, installation, insurance, travel, public presentations, meetings with City of Clearwater staff as necessary, identification plaque, and all related incidental expenses. Three to five artists will be selected to provide proposals and will each receive a $500 stipend for their proposal. Final artist selection will take place after review of the artist proposals.

Applicants must submit 4-12 images of finished works or conceptual drawings, a professional resume with examples of past work and references, and a letter of interest. Experience with public art projects with a similar budget and scope is preferred. Artists will be evaluated on artistic excellence, professional experience, and compatibility with the architectural design, facility environment, and values of the City of Clearwater. This opportunity is open to professional artists residing in the U.S. Submittals are due July 1, 2024. Panel review will occur July 8-12, 2024, with selected finalists notified by July 15, 2024. Final proposals are due August 16, 2024, and the artist will be selected by August 23, 2024.
