Clear Creek Crossing Public Art Commission

The City of Wheat Ridge and the Wheat Ridge Cultural Commission seek to commission public art for the new Clear Creek Crossing Development in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Clear Creek Crossing is a 110-acre mixed-use development currently under construction at the intersection of I-70 and Hwy 58 at Clear Creek Dr, featuring a 26-acre SCL Health campus, luxury apartments, retail, restaurants, hotels, and public spaces with trail networks connecting to the Clear Creek Regional Trail.

Qualifications are requested from Colorado-based artists and/or artist teams interested in creating site-specific public artwork(s) for the development. The established art budget is $185,000 USD, inclusive of all costs including artist design fee, structural engineering, insurance, materials, fabrication, transportation, installation, site modifications, travel, per diem, project documentation, and contingency. Artwork should be constructed with consideration for future maintenance, temperature fluctuations, and UV damage. The artwork should take into account the "Modern Agrarian" narrative of the development, the history and agricultural heritage of the area, and natural landscapes near Clear Creek.

Eligibility: All applicants must be legal residents of the United States and reside full-time in Colorado. Artists or artist teams must have skills and experience commensurate with successfully completing a public art installation. Applicants must submit five digital images of previously completed artworks, a current résumé, a statement of interest (250 words or less), and responses to questions about residence, public art experience, and design approach through www.callforentry.org. There is no application fee. Semi-finalists will be paid a $750 honorarium for design and presentation of proposals.
