Clayton Art Faire 2018

Clayton Visual Arts, Inc. announces a call to artists for the 20th Annual Art Faire, a juried show awarding $2,250 in cash prizes. The Margaret Ritchie Award of Excellence is $750, Carolyn Howard 1st Place Fine Art Award is $300, 1st Place Photography award is $300, 2nd Overall Award is $250, 3rd Overall Award is $150, and Sunnie Chance People's Choice Award is $250. HomeTowne Award is $100 (only for Clayton residents with zip codes 27520, 27527, 27528, and CVA members). Three Honorable Mention Awards for Fine Art receive $25 gift certificates to Jerry's Artarama, and three Honorable Mention Awards for Photography receive $25 gift certificates to Peace Camera.

The entry fee is $35 for up to 3 separate pieces of 2-D art (digital entries). CVA members are eligible for a $10 discount on entry fee. Eligible works include graphics, printmaking, mixed media, collage, fiber art, works on canvas, and photography. Artists must be 18 years or older, and works must be entirely the work of a single artist executed within the last two years. All entries must be for sale and family-friendly. Works must not have been exhibited in previous Art Faire shows. Original art is defined as one-of-a-kind art created by the artist's hand, not copied subjects from other artists' work. Artwork dimensions (including frame) cannot exceed 48 inches on any side and must be totally dry, securely framed, wired, and ready to hang. Maximum weight is 35 lbs. NO CLIP FRAMES OR SAWTOOTH HANGERS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Entry deadline is Monday, August 20, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Notification of acceptance will be sent by email on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 by 11:59 p.m. Delivery of artwork to The Clayton Center (111 E 2nd St, Clayton NC) is Tuesday, September 4, 2018, 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Reception and Awards are Thursday, September 6, 2018, 6 p.m.–7:30 p.m. Unsold artwork must be picked up Monday, October 1, 2018, 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Artworks not picked up as scheduled become the property of Clayton Visual Arts unless prior arrangements have been made. Clayton Visual Arts will receive a 30% commission on any 2018 Art Faire sales. Artists are responsible for sales tax. Clayton Visual Arts and The Clayton Center are not responsible for loss of or damage to artwork. Exhibitors should insure their work. The juror is Eric McRay of Raleigh, who received his MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
