About This Call

Clay & Color: Red Planet Resonance invites ceramic artists, sculptors, and surface designers to explore the chromatic and conceptual possibilities inspired by the Red Planet. Think oxidized reds, iron-rich glazes, cratered forms, and the bold spirit of extraterrestrial exploration. The exhibition runs from February 3-28, 2026, with an opening reception on Friday, February 6, 2026. The Best in Show award is $500.

Entry fee is $25 for the first entry and $5 for each additional entry, with a maximum of 20 entries per artist. Payment is non-refundable and does not guarantee acceptance. Submit up to 20 JPEG images (minimum 1,200 pixels on the longest side, maximum 5 MB file size). JPEGs are due by January 17, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Notification of acceptance will be sent by January 19, 2026. This call is open to artists worldwide, both amateur and professional. Work must have been produced within the last five years. Work that is copied or done under the guidance of an instructor is not eligible. All styles and aesthetics are considered, and content should be appropriate for all viewers.

Local drop-off of work is Monday, February 2, 2026, between 8am-noon. Work being shipped must arrive by Friday, January 30, 2026. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and must provide pre-paid return labels through UPS, FedEx, or MSPS. Airfloat Systems are recommended; a $25 handling fee will be charged if a proper art box is not used. Works should be shipped in reusable containers with return labels clearly marked. No packing peanuts. Unsold work can be picked up Monday, March 2, 2026, between 8am-noon, or shipped the week of March 2, 2026. Works not picked up within one month of the exhibition end become property of the Center. The Center charges a 30% commission on sales for members and 40% for non-members. The Center's insurance does not cover damage during shipping; artists should insure their own work. Curator: Anne Thiam, a ceramic artist whose practice explores how environments influence the ways we thrive, struggle, and evolve.
