About This Call

Clark County Open Studios is a juried art event for visual artists and artisans living in Clark County, working in all media. The event offers artists an opportunity to gain recognition, open their studio doors to the public, and show and sell their work. For the community, Open Studios is a free self-guided tour that enhances awareness of local artists and enriches the cultural life of Clark County neighborhoods.

The Open Studios tour takes place Saturday–Sunday, November 3-4, 2018, 10 am to 5 pm. A preview exhibit and artists reception will be held Friday, November 2, 2018, 5–9 pm at CAVE Gallery, 108 E Evergreen Blvd, Vancouver, WA 98660. Artist benefits include expanded audience reach, sales opportunities (with all proceeds going to artists unless a gallery contract specifies otherwise), exposure through print, web, and social media marketing, publication in a full-color guidebook and online directory with up to 5 images and website link, and networking opportunities. The preview exhibit will feature one work from each participant, with the hosting gallery receiving 30% commission on sales and Arts of Clark County receiving 20% in support of the program.

Participating artists must have a regular, ongoing studio workspace for creating art located within Clark County, Washington. The studio must retain the atmosphere of an active workspace with materials, equipment, and work-in-progress visible. During Open Studios, artists must exhibit a minimum of 15 pieces of original art created within the last three years. Reproductions may be exhibited with restrictions: only 20% of display space may be allocated to reproductions, original work should be prominent, and reproductions must be clearly labeled with an explanation of the reproduction process.

Applications require five digital images of available work created within the last three years, one image of the studio space, and a brief artist statement (about 50 words). The non-refundable application fee is $25. After acceptance, a participation fee of $100 is required by June 30. The blind jury will evaluate submissions based on originality/creativity and craftsmanship/use of materials or media. For questions regarding eligibility or participation guidelines, contact Jennifer Williams, Clark County Open Studios director.
