CITY SCENES (2026): THE URBAN EXPERIENCE

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists, photographers, and sculptors of all levels (emerging to established) to submit original abstract artwork to this exhibition. The Gallery welcomes any style of abstract art from "drip" paintings to color field impressions to geometric designs, emphasizing the essential elements of line, shape, color, form, and gestural mark. Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, sculpture, fiber, drawing, and photography.

Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 different images, with additional images available for $5.00 each up to a maximum of 9 images. All images must be submitted as JPEG files under 5 MB with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Submissions must include title, medium, size, price, and year of completion. Artwork must be professionally finished and ready for secure installation with stretched wire attached to the back. Paintings should not exceed 48 inches (framed) on the longest side and must not weigh more than 45 lbs. Sculpture should not exceed 24 inches on any dimension. Photographs should be framed with black or white frames preferred, with white or off-white mats only.

Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance by email on or about February 5, 2026. Accepted artwork must arrive at the Gallery no later than March 26, 2026. The exhibition runs March 29 - April 26, 2026. Unsold artwork will be returned to artists April 28 - May 7, 2026. Artists are responsible for all shipping and insurance costs both to and from the Gallery and must provide prepaid return shipping labels. Awards include an "Art of Distinction" Award featuring a special exhibition, an Annual Grand Prize offering a New York City exhibition opportunity, and an optional Director's Choice Award of $200. For sales, artists receive 70% of the final sale price.
