City Panorama: Photomural Public Art Call

Photographic Center Northwest (PCNW), King County Metro, and Youth in Focus are seeking inspiring images for installation as public art on King County Metro bus shelters through the City Panorama public art project. The 2016 theme is open. Photographs will be printed on 2' high x 8' wide wooden panels and installed in King County Metro shelters for up to 10 years. Images must conform to a panoramic 4:1 ratio format. Photographers can crop, stitch, tile, or collage images to achieve this format.

Submissions are accepted between February 1 and March 20, 2016 via CaFE. A minimum of 5 images and a maximum of 10 images must be submitted. The entry fee is $20 for 5 images, with additional images at $5 each. Images must be maximum 1920px x 480px and under 5mb per image. An artist's statement may be submitted. Selected and non-selected artists will be notified in late April 2016 by email. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of jurors from Metro, PCNW, and Youth in Focus. Chosen photographs will be displayed throughout Seattle and greater King County.

Project guidelines require avoiding large blocks of color or negative space, ensuring themes and subjects are appropriate for all age groups (PG-13), and suitable for public art exhibition. Artist names and image titles will appear next to installed images along with PCNW, King County, Youth in Focus, and 4Culture logos. Selected images may be used for promotion by PCNW and in Metro publications. The City Panorama Project began in 2010 and has installed over 450 photo murals since its launch. This annual project is funded through a 4Culture grant.
