About This Call
The City of Westminster is seeking sculptures for its inaugural One Book Sculpture on Loan Program, which will display art in conjunction with the community reading event. The 2024 program celebrates White Horse by Erika T. Wurth, a New York Times editors pick and urban Native author of Apache/Chickasaw/Cherokee descent. Artists are encouraged to submit artworks that promote indigenous peoples of North America or relate to the White Horse novel.
Selected sculptures will be displayed at two locations: College Hill Library (outdoor setting requiring long-term durability in metal, stone, or similar materials; wood and powder-coated surfaces not accepted) and Irving Street Library (indoor setting with all non-ephemeral materials acceptable). Sculptures must be impactful in size and suitable for outdoor or high-traffic indoor settings. Artists are responsible for providing secure pedestals or bonnets if needed for indoor display. Selected artists will receive a $500 stipend after acceptance and installation. All artworks must be available for purchase and will be displayed throughout the 2024 calendar year. If artwork is removed, artists must provide a replacement of equal or greater value within 7 days. Displayed works will be promoted regionally through print and digital platforms and events throughout Westminster.
Applications must be submitted online through CaFE (callforentry.org) with 3-6 images showing front and back viewpoints of a single sculpture per application. Required information includes artist bio, artwork dimensions and weight, condition description, artwork value (maximum $75,000), appraisal certificate, proof of authenticity, inspiration description, and construction details. No entry fee. Open to all artists; artist teams are eligible. Work must be original art.
