About This Call
The City of Tamarac is seeking proposals to commission a signature sculpture that represents the city's changing community and its mission as 'The City for Your Life'. Once known as a retirement community, Tamarac has become a city of families and youth. The selected artwork will serve as the city's defining signature sculpture.
The artwork must be durable and require minimal ongoing maintenance, designed to withstand South Florida's sub-tropical climate with intense sun, heat, humidity, and seasonal heavy rain. The sculpture should be designed and constructed in accordance with the Florida Building Code. It must be self-supporting on an open landscape or hardscape, large in scale with a minimum height of 10 feet. The sculpture will be oriented horizontally or vertically within a 30 feet by 20 feet designated area and must maintain a minimum of 3 feet access on all sides. Problems with rust and fading should be avoided.
The sculpture will be located at the Woodlands on Weston West Commercial Boulevard, a golf club community property developed in 1968 and designed similarly to Palm Springs, California. The property contains more than 5,000 acres with a housing community surrounded by fairways and wooded areas. Applicants must submit 1-10 images of work samples. National eligibility.
