About This Call
The City of Santa Clarita is seeking original, site-specific artwork for the Valencia Library. This outdoor artwork will be highly visible and must complement the City's aesthetic in style, scale, and medium. The artwork should be created to be noticeable at a distance and understandable at a glance. A 35-foot triangle of space is available for the artwork, with no height restrictions.
The artwork should celebrate the library. Artists are encouraged to think beyond typical representations of library-associated objects. Themes may incorporate words such as vibrant, education, exploration, technology, history, fun, youthful, and community. The piece could use one or more of these as a theme.
Project goals include: artwork of original, site-specific design; fabrication in durable, low-maintenance material that will withstand Santa Clarita's heat and elements; complementary design to the surrounding area; and strong public appeal that will be embraced by the local community. Submissions must include 3 images and may include up to 1 video (4 samples maximum total).
