About This Call
The City of San José's Office of Cultural Affairs is seeking digital photographs from San José photographers (professional and non-professional) for temporary display on monitors in public spaces throughout City Hall. This opportunity is only open to photographers with a physical or studio address within San José, CA.
From January through July 2026, San José will host major athletic events including Super Bowl LX, NCAA basketball tournaments, and the FIFA World Cup. The City Hall Exhibits Program will curate up to thirty (30) photographic images for display on up to six large monitors in various public areas. The overarching theme is "Hometown Heroes," celebrating athletes and sports figures with meaningful connections to San José or the greater region, as well as other aspects of how sports impact and engage the community. Photographs may highlight professional athletes, local legends, community coaches, youth champions, or explore the cultural and social impact of sports in shaping San José's identity. Selected photographs will be displayed from January through the end of July 2026.
Each applicant may submit up to three digital photographs. Images must be original photographs captured using a camera; digitally created artwork, AI-generated imagery, or non-photographic images are not eligible. Photographs may be in color, black and white, sepia tone, or similar styles. Applicants must include a brief written description of their photograph and a short biographical statement including their connection to San José. Photographers will receive a fee of $250 for each photograph selected for display, with a maximum of two images per photographer (maximum total compensation of $500). All copyrights remain with the photographer. Submissions must be made online via CaFE by 10:59 PM Pacific Time on September 30, 2025. There is no application fee.
