City of Redlands Art on Loan Program

The City of Redlands Art on Loan Program seeks sculptures for long-term outdoor display in public spaces. Artists may submit up to 3 sculptures for consideration, with each application containing only one artwork. A $15 entry fee applies per submission; use code "discount15" for the second and third applications.

Sculptures must be suitable for long-term outdoor display, as vandal-proof as possible, and safe to the public. They should be considerable in scale as many sites are viewed from a distance, and must be capable of being properly secured on a 5-foot diameter concrete pad with additions to base for firm attachment. Each submission must include at least 2 images of the sculpture, clearly labeled with the sculpture name. Up to 4 images and 1 audio or video file may be included per submission.

Artists are responsible for delivery and return of sculptures and all associated costs. Sculptures must be delivered no later than 30 days after City Council approval of the art on loan agreement (generally two months after artwork selection). At the end of the 2-year loan term, artists must reclaim their sculpture no later than 30 days after the term ends to receive the final $1,000 payment. Open to all artists 18 years of age and older residing in San Bernardino and Riverside counties in California, and artists residing in Ontario, Pomona, and Claremont city limits. All work must be original.
