About This Call
The City of Palo Alto Public Art Program is inviting artists and artist teams working in a variety of media to submit qualifications for potential inclusion in a Prequalified Artist Pool for upcoming public art opportunities in 2014/2015. Applicants will be reviewed and selected for the Prequalified Pool from which the Palo Alto Public Art Program staff will recommend appropriate applicants for a range of public art opportunities associated with construction in municipal and private development projects as they arise throughout Palo Alto. Artists will be selected based on appropriateness of their previous experience and media. Some projects may also provide opportunities for an artist or artist team to work as part of a design team along with the project architect/designer.
Budgets will range from $15,000 to $250,000 or higher, inclusive of artists fees, fees associated with design, fabrication, installation, and insurance provisions. The call is open to all professional artists and artist teams over the age of 18 residing in the United States. Local artists residing in the Northern California Bay Area Region and artists with previous experience in public art projects in private development are encouraged to apply. Artists and artist teams working in more than one medium may submit up to three separate applications and specify the discipline they work in. Artist teams of up to three members are eligible to apply.
Applications must be submitted online via CaFÉ at www.callforentry.org with no application fee. All applications should include an artist statement (350 words maximum), artist resume, six images of previous work, and annotated image descriptions including title, date, location, and budget for artwork. The selection panel will review applications based on artistic excellence, appropriate materials and durability of artwork, and experience working with diverse groups of stakeholders. Selected artists must remain active for a two-year period (2014/15). Inclusion in the prequalified artist pool does not guarantee selection for specific projects. For additional assistance with CaFÉ, contact WESTAF at 303-629-1166 or [email protected].
