City of Olathe 2024 Downtown Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit

The City of Olathe is seeking large-scale, three-dimensional sculpture entries or temporary art installations for its annual Downtown Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit. The exhibit supports the City's vision to build the identity of Olathe, activate public spaces, and connect people to the community through art. All sculpture entries will be juried by the Olathe Public Art Committee, and selected sculptures will remain on display in Olathe for a one-year period.

Sculptures must be suitable for long-term outdoor display, vandal-proof, and safe to the public. Pieces should be considerable in scale as many sites are viewed from a distance. Sculptures must be capable of being properly secured to the ground or concrete. Large, colorful, and interactive pieces are encouraged. The exhibit is open to all artists 18 years of age and older; all entries must be original work. Artists may submit up to 3 sculptures on one application, with at least 2 images per sculpture. An entry fee of $10 is required.

Selected artists will receive a $2,500 honorarium for each work selected for a one-year lease. Selections will be announced March 6, 2024. Art delivery deadline is June 3, 2024, with the exhibition opening June 10, 2024 and closing May 5, 2025. Artists are responsible for delivery and return of sculptures and all associated costs. Sculptures must be delivered Monday-Friday between 9 am-3 pm no later than June 3, 2024, and must be reclaimed by May 5, 2025.
