About This Call

The City of Newport Beach, California seeks ten outdoor sculptures for its Sculpture in Civic Center Park exhibition at the recently created Civic Center Park. This beautiful 14-acre, ocean-view site was designed by the renowned landscape architectural firm PWP Landscape Architecture. The design included an art master plan to facilitate future displays of public art within the passive park setting.

All work submitted for consideration must be complete and available to be loaned to the City for a period of two years (August 2015 – August 2017). Artists, art collectors, museums, and galleries are encouraged to apply. The honorarium amounts vary between $2,000 - $5,000.

Eligibility: This call is open to all professional artists and artist teams, private collectors, galleries and museums/non-profit organizations. Applicants may only submit one application for one artwork. Artists are only eligible to have one piece of artwork in the exhibition at a time. Artists whose work is already exhibited in this exhibition are ineligible to apply. All applicants must be over the age of 18. All artwork must be pre-existing and ready to loan. Submissions of artwork concepts, maquettes, or models will not be considered. The artwork must be in its complete form and appear exactly as photographed. All artwork must be suitable for outdoor installation and capable of withstanding adverse weather conditions (high winds, long sun exposure, sea salt air, etc.), fabricated and finished with non-hazardous materials, maintenance free for the duration of the exhibition, and appropriate for an active pedestrian environment with proper consideration for audience safety.
