City of Mountain View Call for Artists - 2017 Showcase

The City of Mountain View's Visual Arts Committee invites artists and artist teams working in a variety of media to exhibit public art in the lobby of the Center for Performing Arts for the 2017 season. This year's theme is Global Cultural Art, described as how cultures and communities have defined and derived their art, including art representative of different cultures. All artwork must be able to be hung on the Center for Performing Arts system per installation requirements.

The rotating exhibits are approximately nine weeks in length and are viewed by thousands of people visiting downtown Mountain View and attending shows at the Center for Performing Arts. The City will provide insurance, installation, and will offer a small stipend to help defray costs. The call is open to all professional artists and artist teams over the age of 18 residing in the 11 San Francisco Bay Area counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, and Sonoma). Artists and artist teams working in more than one medium may submit up to three separate applications. Artist teams may include up to two members.

Applications must be submitted online via CaFE at www.callforentry.org with no application fee. Each application must include an artist resume, five to ten images of current work, and annotated image descriptions with title, date, dimensions, and media type. All exhibited artwork will be offered for sale through the Center for Performing Arts Box Office for a 20 percent commission, with credit card and debit card processing fees deducted from the sales price. The artist is responsible for all taxes due on sales. The Visual Arts Committee anticipates making artist selections by November 1, 2015, with artists notified by November 9, 2015. Installation is scheduled for December 8, 2015. All artwork must be thoroughly dry at least two weeks before the installation date.
