About This Call
The City of Mountain View Visual Arts Committee seeks to commission an artist or artist team to create public artwork for Wyandotte Park, a planned neighborhood park at 2554 Wyandotte Street (0.88 acre). The total budget for the artwork is not to exceed $18,000. The VAC is open to selecting multiple art installations and/or multiple artists. Multiple art installation sites are available, and a park bench can be designed as art, provided it is functional and compliant with the American with Disabilities Act.
Applications are open to professional artists and artist teams over the age of 18 residing in one of the following 11 San Francisco Bay Area counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, and Sonoma. Applications must be submitted online via CaFE at www.callforentry.org between Friday, March 1, 2019 at 8:00 AM (PST) and Monday, March 25, 2019 by 11:00 PM (PST). Only the first 120 applications will be accepted. There is no charge to apply.
All applications must include: a resume; five to ten images of current artwork completed within the past two years demonstrating capability to create durable outdoor work; a final proposal including artwork design, medium type, and estimated commission time; annotated images with title, date, dimensions, and media type; and a total fee for the artwork including design, fabrication, transportation, loading and unloading, structural engineering, and installation. Depending on artwork type, a building permit may be required; the artist is responsible for obtaining it, with the permit fee paid by the City. All associated costs to visit the park, prepare and submit a proposal, or attend the Visual Arts Committee meeting shall be borne by the artist. Selected artwork is to be installed in Fall 2019.
